With almost 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Biao Lu and Dr. Shiao-Ting Jing, together with their highly trained associate, Dr. Lim, dedicate themselves to the highest standards of their chosen profession: the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, herbology, nutritional counseling, and Qi Gong practice.
Our doctors are graduates of prestigious Chinese medicine universities in mainland, China – namely, Beijing University of TCM and Shanghai University of TCM. These universities offer the finest training programs for Asian medicine in the world. Beijing and Shanghai’s Oriental Medical programs involve extensive training in Western as well as Eastern medicine. The comprehensive programs offered by these universities, combined with their extensive internships and their many years of clinical experience, make our doctors uniquely suited to work with Western patients and their doctors.
Treatments are explained in a clear and straightforward manner, and healing programs can be designed to complement Western diagnoses and medical care. The doctors’ profound herbal knowledge prevents any negative interactions with prescription drugs. At the Traditional Chinese Medicine Healing Center, your health and safety is always paramount.
“Achieving success in healing is like achieving success in life. To succeed in healing, as in life, one must have clarity, patience and unshakeable faith.”
-Biao Lu, O.M.D., Acupuncturist, Los Angeles & Santa Monica
Dr. Biao Lu has been practicing acupuncture since 1984. As a special privilege for being the top student in his class, he was awarded the chance to study specialized acupuncture techniques with several world-renowned acupuncturists – Professor Zheng Kui Shan, with whom he further refined his acupuncture techniques, and Professor Yang Jia San, one of the premier acupuncturists in China who was featured in Bill Moyer’s ‘Healing and the Mind’ program on PBS. During this time, he learned special acupuncture techniques known as “Setting the Mountain on Fire” and “Penetrating Heaven’s Coolness” – two techniques rarely practiced in the West, but which are extremely effective for immunological and neurological disorders, as well as all types of pain conditions that have not been alleviated through other healing modalities. Before coming to Los Angeles, Dr. Lu was the Chief Acupuncture Physician at Dong Zhi Men Hospital in Beijing, which was featured in Bill Moyer’s ‘Mysteries of Qi’ series. Dr. Lu is an expert in QiGong healing and specializes in male infertility, dermatology, psoriasis, eczema, allergies, asthma, and all kinds of pain conditions.
“The most skilled doctor studies people first and medicine second, to maintain each patient at their highest state of physical and spiritual balance.”
-Shiao-Ting Jing, O.M.D., Acupuncturist, Los Angeles & Santa Monica
Dr. Shiao-Ting Jing comes from a family whose knowledge of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine stretches back many generations. She has a passion for the profound philosophy and practice of this medicine and its ability to balance body, mind, and spirit. She was interested in healing from childhood, and after graduating from an eight-year O.M.D. training program, decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. She apprenticed with Dr. Zhang Ren Yi, a seventh-generation Ob/Gyn specialist, and gained great success in treating gynecological issues as a young doctor.
After losing a close family member to an autoimmune condition, she pursued further training in this area, apprenticing with the notable Professors Shang Xin Men and Lu Ren He at Dong Zhi Men Hospital in Beijing. She was engaged in award-winning research studies as well as clinical practice in using TCM to treat kidney failure, deepening her knowledge of herbology. She became a teacher, intern supervisor, and a chief physician at Beijing Immunology Hospital.
Upon coming to Los Angeles, Dr. Jing completed her Ph.D. at American Liberty University in Fullerton, California. Dr. Jing’s practice emphasizes gynecology, infertility, autoimmune disorders and pediatrics, as well as issues in general practice.
Both Dr. Jing and Dr. Lu are on the faculty of Yo San University in Los Angeles and Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica. They have maintained a practice in the Los Angeles & Santa Monica area for over a decade.
“All healing must first begin with the heart. The physician must have not only an infinite knowledge of medicine, but also be sensitive to the patient’s emotional and spiritual needs so as to facilitate healing on all levels.”
-Florence Lim, L.Ac, Dipl.O.M., DAOM
Dr. Florence Lim’s passion for holistic healing and wellness brought her to China, where she obtained her medical degree specializing in traditional Chinese medicine after completing a 6-year training program at Shanghai University of TCM. During the course of her studies, she earned the highest honors in her class in the fields of TCM Gynecology and Acupuncture. She participated in a 2-year residency program at Shanghai’s renowned East-West integrative hospitals, namely Shu Guang Hospital and Rui Jin Hospital, where her clinical studies focused on an East-West integrative approach to treating gastrointestinal, gynecological, and autoimmune issues. Dr. Lim was also one of the first in California to obtain a clinical doctoral degree specializing in TCM reproductive medicine and infertility through an intensive doctoral program at Yosan University of TCM in Los Angeles, CA. Her studies at Yosan culminated in the completion and presentation of an extensive literature review synthesis regarding the integrated use of Chinese medicine and Western medicine to treat immunological recurrent miscarriage.
Both from her own personal experience and through her work at TCM Healing Center, she has developed a passion for treating patients undergoing conventional cancer treatments; she has found that both herbs and acupuncture can significantly alleviate the side effects of western chemo- and radiotherapeutic treatments, as well as help keep the cancer in remission long after treatments have ended.
Florence believes that just as there are many paths to success, so are there many paths to health and wellness. In her practice, she emphasizes using an integrative approach that includes diagnostic methods of both western and eastern medicine, acupuncture and herbal treatment, as well as lifestyle, diet, and nutritional counseling. She also incorporates exercises such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong when necessary into her treatments. An avid practitioner of the meditative movement art of Tai Ji Quan for the past 20 years, Florence Lim won first place for her performances in both the Shaolin sword and 24-movement standard Tai Ji Quan sequence at the Zhejiang International Martial Arts Conference in Hang Zhou, China in 2003. She has also taught Tai Ji Quan and Qi Gong at international corporate conference venues.
We are happy to have Florence as a part of our team at TCM Healing Center, and together we strive to provide the highest quality care for our patients.
